I visited KT's mom in Alabama a couple months ago who is really into bird watching. She orders worms from Canada to feed her birds. My dad too is really into Martins, but while I was there, I was reminded of this little hobby that could be a fun thing for me and Adler. I decided to take my first step in "bird watching" by purchasing a hummingbird feeder. You can make your own nectar (hello! sugar and water and food coloring). I've had it up for a week now and have really enjoyed watching the humming birds fly through. They are all so different looking! Stephen hung it next to the door so Adler and I can watch from our kitchen table. My next step is to be able to differentiate from one to the other and I really want to see a white one! I took a picture of one of my new friends, but I don't think you can see him.

so fun! ask corlea..but i actually don't think you are suppose to put the food coloring in there anymore..not sure why - but leah doesn't do it either - and she has a ridiculous amnt of hummingbirds...
Well, i read on the Georgia Hummingbird website that you don't need the food coloring, that they are attracted to the red on the feeder, but I thought for the first time, it wouldn't hurt to put red to draw their attention....but probably don't need to for the second round.
Now I want a bird feeder!
